This was the original charcoal zoom-in project that is connected to the Charcoal Abstract. In this assignment, students had to go outside and pick an object from nature. It could be a rock, tree bark, a leaf, etc. With this object, they had to create a zoomed-in composition of said object.
The student couldn’t use any photographs for reference. We could only use the object and our eyes to create the zoom-in. I found a small pine cone the size of my palm, and I created this charcoal art on an 18 x 24″ canvas.
